Sharon Johal (MBACP)
I’m Sharon, a fully qualified and accredited therapist (MBACP) practicing since 2010. I offer a safe, honest, and non-judgmental space where you can explore any issues you may be facing. My aim is to help you build self-awareness and understanding, so you feel more equipped to navigate life’s challenges with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

I’ll be honest — writing about myself is harder than I expected! I came to psychotherapy as a second career after realising that my first path in social policy wasn’t the right fit. I missed real human connection and wanted to make a direct difference in people’s lives.
After what you might call a “quarter-life crisis,” I found psychotherapy — and it felt like home. It suited my natural curiosity, empathy, and analytical way of thinking. Since then, I haven’t looked back.
I first trained in the Person-Centred approach, and over time my practice has expanded through further training, experience, and continuous development. This allows me to draw on a range of theories and strategies, always tailoring my approach to your unique personality, experiences, and needs.
My work has taken me across a variety of settings, including Myton Hospice, Rugby Rape & Sexual Abuse Support, Coventry City Council, Birmingham City University, and Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre. Currently, I provide individual therapy, group therapy, and clinical supervision at the University of Warwick as well as in private practice.
BA (Hons) – Psychotherapy and Person-Centred Counselling, University of Warwick
Certificate in Supervision – Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy
Foundation in Group Work – Group Analysis North
I have also completed a wide range of specialist training over the years, which I’d be happy to discuss with you in our first consultation.
I offer both face-to-face and online sessions, depending on your needs and location (Coventry and Warwickshire). Together, we’ll explore your experiences from different angles - your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, attachment patterns, cultural background, and unique identity.

I offer a dynamic, focused, and professional experience of psychotherapy, while always creating a warm, safe, and confidential space. Together, we will find the approach that feels right for you. The aim of our work is to help you connect with and understand your issues more deeply, so you can feel a greater sense of control over them. With this comes self-awareness, empowerment, and the possibility of lasting change.
Although I draw on a wide range of techniques and strategies, I believe it is the trusting and honest relationship we build that makes the greatest difference. Through this connection, I can support you to think more clearly, feel more deeply, and relate to yourself and others in a new way.

I offer clinical supervision to both individuals or groups of practitioners, including counsellors and psychotherapists, as well as professionals in related fields, e.g. Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs) and teachers.
I enjoy using the 7-Eyed Model of Supervision, which provides the powerful flexibility to systematically explore your client work from seven distinct perspectives—ranging from your direct client interventions to the wider organisational context and your own internal process. This ensures a comprehensive and holistic review of your practice.
Supervision with me is a safe, challenging, confidential space dedicated to addressing and exploring:
Client Complexity - Navigating challenging cases and ethical dilemmas.
Personal Development - Strengthening your professional identity and reflective capacity.
Systemic Challenges - Addressing organisational or team dynamics.
Professional Wellbeing - Fostering resilience and protecting against burnout.
Collaboratively, we reflect, grow, and strengthen both your professional practice and your essential personal wellbeing.
Below are the answers to the most frequently asked questions that I get about Psychotherapy and my services.

Yes - information shared in our sessions is strictly confidential and kept between us, except in certain circumstances - where required by law (e.g. court order, terrorism, money laundering) or where there is risk of serious harm to yourself or others. If information needs to be shared outside our sessions, I will aim to do this with your permission, where possible.
It depends on your goals and needs. We can work together on a short- or long-term basis and will review progress as we go.
